FUSING & SLUMPING CLASSES
***NEW***Morton Glass Shop Workshop -2 - Two Hour Sessions
Melanie will be your hostess with the mostess of information on working with and understanding the Morton Portable Glass Shop. She has spent countless hours mastering the set up and special cutting techniques to help you make your system fun and easy to use. The first session will be setting up for strip cutting and other simple geometric shapes. For the second session, she will show how easy it is to cut perfect circles, leaving your outer piece intact and how to cut trapezoids for use in boarder designs. She has a beautiful piece on display. Please keep in mind that while this will be a learning session, you may choose glass that you can incorporate into a stained glass project or for fusing. However, that decision is up to you. Also, if any of those ideas are your plan, remember that this is a workshop only; there will be no assembly of glass or firing during this time. IMPORTANT NOTE, if you own your own Morton System already, please bring it, so you can set your marks as we go. See Estelle or Melanie if you have any questions. More workshop will follow.

This will take you back to the days of playing with colored sand, but better! Once again, due to time, we will limit the project size to no bigger than 10x10 inches. There will be a hand out explaining the different reactions you will get using different types of frit. You will also be tortured with other possibilities for your project, that I won't go into detail about until class time. I suspect the first class date is full, but call and catch the next one. Organic Vitrofusion is a method of imprinting organic material onto glass. This includes fresh, dried or semi - dried leaves, flower blossoms, grass, seeds, etc. We will look at two methods of Organic Vitrofusion.

You will select the leaves and flowers you want to use from the ones available for the class (or you can bring your own) and learn how to enhance them with frit and inclusions. Second Session: You will take fused piece and decide how to finish it. Examples of different finishing techniques will be available. You will learn how to fuse leaves and flowers between two pieces of glass without enhancements. this will give a shadow effect.
Third Session: This involves fusing several finished pieces with inclusions to create a piece with depth and dimension. There will be so much more presented at class with a project handout.
